Here We Go....Again
It was just 2 years and 10 days ago, but somehow seems like yesterday that Shankie had his heart attack. I don't want him to ever have to go through anything so terrible again. I don't want to go through it with him either.
But here we are....again.
For a couple of weeks his left arm has had the pain in it that he had on that day we went to the hospital. He says he will never forget that pain and its the same pain. Each day it comes early in the day and along with it the High Blood Pressure. It also happens again later on in the evening. Each time it happens we try all the things we know to try to get the blood pressure down quick. He was getting the headaches too and Shankie never has headaches so we know its happening again. I wondered if in a small way it was etched into his mind just as it is mine that the anniversary, if you will, is now or was approaching and it was an ever present reminder that it could be possible for the stent to collapse or maybe the medication quit working and another artery could be blocked?
Each day I would say lets call the doc and each day he thinks maybe its a fluke and will go away. Finally, after having to use the nitro one too many times, yesterday we called the Heart docs. They wanted him to come asap and he did. They wanted to either do the nuclear test again or the Heart Cath and just upon hearing the words "Nuclear test", Poor Shankie's pressure skyrocketed right there in the room. He had such a reaction to all the crap they put into him the last time before doing that test, that he has never quite gotten over it. He tells them sure but you have to KNOCK ME OUT! I mean if he told that nurse practitioner that once he told her 100 times so I am SURE she got the message. Actually I know she got it as she called when we got home and said Good Ole Dr. Paul remembered and said we are not only going to Knock him out, we will bypass the test and go straight to the Heart Cath.
Not the best news for Shankie but at least it will be best to know exactly what is going on.
Actually he said he would rather to have this done as to have to go through what he went through with the test again.
I don't care which is done, as long as it comes back he is fine and the stent is fine and the other arteries are still beautifully clear!
Keep him in your prayers.
