Full Circle
I have lived in this house for only 5 years...but have spent my lifetime here. I have heard several stories about this house and all mostly from my Aunt Lissie. My Aunt Lissie, after the death of her husband, had her mother, my grandma, come here to live with her. My Grandma was a tough ole gizzard, but I loved her with all my might. She had her ways about her that are just dear to me.
In the home she came from, there was no inside toilet/bathroom, only an outhouse. And even though my Aunt Lissie had a bathroom installed here, my grandma would never use it. Never. She even didn't want me to use it when I would come and I remember so hating to go to the outhouse which stood on the top of the hill in back and I especially hated it in the middle of the night with only a flashlight my momma would carry.
Around the sixties my grandma was pretty much blind with cataracts. But she did pretty good for a long time and even though she was in her eighties she would still insist upon using the outhouse. She got to where my Aunt had trouble keeping up with her when she was in the house...let alone during the night when she decided to go to the outhouse. Most of the time my Aunt would hear if she went out the door but one night she didn't and eventually awoke only to find my grandma wandering around down in the gully in the back yard. She had become disoriented and couldn't quite find her way back up the hill to the back door. My Aunt Lissie in her nightgown armed with a flashlight tracked her down and they both made their way back up the hill.
Which brings me to my title for my post today...I believe I have come full circle.
Lil Bit has had cataracts for some time. She still does pretty well at 16. But lately she does seem to get a bit disoriented here and there. She usually does her business before dark as she only seems to see shadows during the day and at night it is pretty much her moving to sound or memory. Last night she awoke me quickly that she needed to go do her business. She went out and really quick moved past her usually spot and proceeded to the hill. This is the hill where the outhouse used to be. As she usually moves at a snails pace these days I was sure I had time to get the flashlight and my shoes on....not the case...by the time I got back out side she had gotten down to the gully and was moving quickly on to the neighbors yard. Shankie decided to help me get her and by the time he got outside she was heading the opposite way in places she has never gone to in the dark. So here we are in the middle of the night trying to get Lil Bit inside all the while in our Jammie's and armed with a flashlight. It kinda reminded me of Grandma and Aunt Lissie.
Finally after all this excitement we all got ourselves back into bed, and as I laid there I wondered if while out by the old outhouse area, Baby Girl ran into Louisa Jane? :)

Awwwww......what a story! I only knew Louisa Jane when she was in the nursing home. She was a very pretty lady and I always wished I had known her when she had it all together.
