Went Fishin..............

But it was a total nightmare....The rains we have had recently have flooded most lakes we usually go to for fishing. So we knew the docks at Monroe were under water.....we went to the closet place for fishing at Cataract and as of Last Friday the docks and beach were under water....about 30ft. The Shelter was nowhere to be seen and the fishing dock was floating out in the lake, seems it came loose and the park just decided to let it float....

So we went to the Strip pits in Linton. Usually there are several places to bank fish and that is what we have to do, seeing as we have no boat........So there we were and it was such a nice day. Which is why we decided to go...to get out of Dodge so to speak to do something for just us and nobody else....something that we like to do, and haven't gotten to do for a while. And the cotton was flying all over the lake from the trees...and it looked so pretty flying all around in the sky and then settling on the lake. But along with it came the bugs.

Yes BUGS.....OMG....is all I can say as it was just awful. The bugs were in the air something fierce. They came in spurts but then the spurts became longer and longer and I was just absolutely miserable, and the Shankster, God love him, was as patient as I have ever seen him and he did it for me so I could have a great day fishing. But I took it for as long as I could. It seems we were both trying hard to stand the nightmare for each other. (What kind of idiots are we?) And then I had a fit with the buggers as they would not leave my head area alone long enough for me to try to put my stinkin bait on. It was so bad the Shankster came over and took his hat and started swinging it about and around my head so to shoosh the buggers away. Needless to say...it Didn't work.

It was at that moment I headed for the car and said I had just had enough....I felt like the bugs were in my hair and up my nose and in my ears....it was just awful...we have been fishing for years and never had this happen. I mean we have been fishin in the snow, rain, freezing cold, ice and heat. And I only remember one time having a bad time just cause I was hot. But it was about 95 and very humid. We did catch a few and threw them back...it would have been a nice day if not for the bugs.

We decided the next day to try again. But I don't think we were quite ready or the buggers got in and warped our brain as we went all the way to Cataract...about 10 minutes away and we knew the water would still be up and of course it was and more...this time 36 feet.....but we didn't even take our fishin poles....we just went and walked down to the water and starred for a bit.....
So I think we will wait a bit for the next fishin trip.

what is it with the bugs this year? I don't remember being bitten by bugs since I was a little girl and they are biting me like crazy this year. I'm not handling it well, either, so I totally understand you on this one!
