What a Night
All I can say is that I am glad that this past week is over and done with.
I usually don't like that feeling of a week being over let alone a day.
But I could not have taken one more thing yesterday. But I had to do just that.
A little explanation.
Without going into too much detail as I think/hope all was taken care of yesterday evening.
I will just say that my dad did some unusual things this past week that was totally out of character for him. It was enough to make me worry about what the moment and the future held for me.
I had decided I would wait the weekend out to see if my worries were justified or if I was just being silly. I am glad I waited as I found out that I do have a sister that loves me just as I thought. That meant the world to me.
Now if that wasn't enough....
This past Friday out of nowhere my dad ups and leaves on a trip out of state...actually he was going to go to 2 different states with a cousin's son, which was really out of the ordinary. He just does not do that. He said he would be back no earlier than Monday as the cousin's son would not need to go to back to work til midnight on Monday.
Great...some time alone.
Well about 11pm we were in bed...with all lights out but the tv light. Then there it was...the audio on the security camera and the motion light came on.
CRAP.
We jumped up and scrambled to get clothes on and before we could do that someone Banged at the back door.
Double CRAP.
The Shankster Hollered WHO IS IT? Nothing. We looked the best we could but the Motion light only is at the side and the back door was pitch black.
I said flip the back light on...he did. Still we could see nothing.... BANG BANG again ......WHO IS IT? again nothing.
We yelled one more time and still nothing and that is when the Shankster says go into the closet and called 911 and he pulled out the shotgun.
Holy Crap.
We never have visitors...especially at night. Our first thought was it was the thief again and when the Security Audio came on saying he was being videotaped he got mad and decided to come and get it. (yeah we watch too much TV) Our second thought was that it was my brother...but he would have yelled back. (most likely asking us why we are not opening up the door after turning the light on)
But no response and we still could not see anything. When the 911 operator told me how far away the cop was...I think my response was HOLY CRAP. I think. (can you go buy those 911 tapes back?)
At this time I noticed the fear in my body I was shaking like a leaf. I wondered if the Shankster peed his pants yet and he yelled I don't know how many times with not a response and no matter where we got we could not see anyone but the banging continued.
We did what the operator said and the Shankster held the gun pointed at the door.
Then the perpetrator moved.
It was this guy.
My dad.
OMG.....I thought I was going to die. We now know why he didn't answer...he cannot hear. He hasn't been able to hear for years. But he does wear hearing aides so as loud as we were yelling we were sure he could have heard that. But he said no. Not in our wildest dreams did we think it was him. He was not due back for days....I think the Shankster just about had a heart attack.
Heck I thought I did.
But the Shankster felt the brunt of it as he was holding the gun....holding it towards my dad and that just about killed him of the thought.
I guess we are both a little more on edge than we realized.
Brinks...where are you???????? We need you now!

Saga of the Cat Burgler
It has been a long few weeks for me as we were the victims of a robbery.
Not too bad as they just got into my dad's car and mine, and then went onto the front porch and took a few things and then went into one of the barns. Sure it was probably kids as they just took things they could get to quick and carry, or at least it looks that way. Like money that was in the consoles (quarters, dimes, nickels, pennies) all the sunglasses, hearing aides, books, hats and gloves.
The biggest and heaviest was tools for the car that were left on the porch. Yeah, Yeah this could have been avoided if we were smart enough to put things up in the barn when we were done instead of leaving them on the porch, or even lock the cars.
But they went into the barn anyway. There wasn't that much in the unlocked barn as they took those things a few years back when we first moved here.
Unfortunately, we keep almost half of the Shankster's medication in the car as we are in it a lot.
Some of which he uses on an "as needed" basis.
Most was pain meds or heart meds. They took that too. I thought I had it hid enough where not to notice...but they dug for it. They also got my asthma inhalers as I keep double, one for the car one for the house.
The Pills were mostly why we decided to call the police.
I am mostly just hating the fact that they did it. Its just so ridiculous and it has made me nervous at nite. As the police suggested we got a motion/security/light/camera.
Not the best, but it will do for now.
I like it and would like to get one for the front and back as well.
The Shankster made me feel a bit more at ease by placing a lock on the basement door. I think that was way overdue anyhow. I just cannot hardly stand this place any more and now feel so vulnerable. I miss my home and my Brinks security system. :( WAHH (yes that was me whining)
The Shankster took care of some other issues in the house, security wise, to make me feel a bit more safe...or at least to where I can have some time to grab my shotgun when I hear them next time! :)
It was a lesson learned for locking car doors as we spent a small fortune replacing the Shankster's medication as he is now in his Insurance Gap..... :( (more whining)
That even made me madder at the little thieves.
I really was unnerved on Friday/Halloween. But it was uneventful. Thank God.
But last Friday as we went to bed I heard the Audio part on the camera. Oh yeah it has audio also. Tells you that you are trespassing and are being videotaped. I love it.
But when I heard it I got more nervous and laid there I think all nite wide awake.
At the crack of dawn I finally ran out and retrieved the smart card to place into my camera to see who the petty thief was...................
Of course, this is me being funny....but Dummy me forgot to save the copy I did get on the video, but I swear that cat looked into the camera just like this. I think it scared a few lives off the sucker! It was too funny, I think I watched it over and over that day...my entertainment for the day......yeah it doesn't take much.
