Turtle Doves

I have been noticing a nest in the pine tree branch over the deck last few days. Was not for sure what was in it until Frank noticed the Turtle Doves hanging around the house yesterday. Tonite we got to see these babies. Kinda cute huh?

But the momma was not too far away giving me a stare!

My Turn

Ok if it hasn't been a rotten luck month (or two) seems its going to keep on going next month as well. Ok Simply Amused, you got to have a pity party a while back, so this one is for you...it's my turn. And here are a few reasons why.
As if the stove here wasn't bad enough without having a complete working oven for the last 4 years I have been here (and way beyond according to mom) Now we only have one working burner. Oh did I say working? Well if you call working whenever it feels like it working..ok its a working burner. So if I want more than one entree, you gotta cook in shifts and use the microwave a lot more than I would like to.
Did I just say entree? Hmm...interesting.

Anyhow, then seems as though the fridge wants to freeze my water and pepsi's. Ok freezing the water I am getting used to with it as hot outside its nice to have cold water on hand. But a frozen pepsi just does not do it for me...by the time its thawed out...its flat! YECH!!
And its getting to the point where everything is getting frozen and ruining most of my produce stock. I am wishing at this point I could have somehow found a way to bring my appliances with me from home..............home.....man do I ever miss my home.

Now if I hadn't already had it bad with the windows installing incident, I guess I would just chalk this up to maybe I gotta come up with some moolah for some new appliances in the kitchen department but I've got 8 windows that are unfinished, inside and out and 2 doors I have to complete, and the guys are gone....vanished....not comin back...and don't even get me started on the curtains and or blinds for above said windows.

I am ready for my ship to come in and just am wondering which port it will be at. I sure wish it would hurry as I need it asap. I am about to go crazy.

Baby Girl

Once again Lil Bit has made her way to my blog. If things just were not tough enough for us today, we awoke to a problem with her to where we just had to take her to the vet. Poor baby. She has never been away from us, it was hard for me to leave her there, but she had to get surgery. She still has too much pep in her 15 year old body to have had to put her down. The cost was more than we had, but he fixed her up and after me making sure he understood she HAD to come home tonite, we were able to go pick her up by 5pm.

This has been a booger of a day and I am tired to the point where I want to go to sleep and not think about it ...any of it, anymore and wake up to a new day with no more problems, and the windows being completed inside and out (mostly out), and Frank's wrist and hand being fine and..............................geez, what do I think this is? Fantasy Island? Gimmee a break!

As long as Frank keeps getting better and Lil Bit does too I will be happy. She has been sleeping since we brought her home and hopefully will sleep all nite too...I have her all bundled up on my bed, and I think I will be sliding in next to her any minute...Frank says that Baby Girl and I will get the bed to ourselves tonite! What a sweetie. She won't be using Elvis as a pillow though as she is in this pic, but I will make sure she is comfortable. Good nite to all!

Freakin NightMare!!!!!

I wanted to post about this a few days ago...but was afraid I would jinx the whole situation if I wrote anything down about how frustrated I was, so I didn't...not that I am superstitious or anything. But Today was the last straw and after a hospital visit that would not have happened if everything wasn't going haywire, I cannot keep it to myself...I have to let it all out. Once again my dander is up.

A few posts back I was excited about our new windows. I am still happy to have the new windows in.......but...and with us there is always a but. Not my butt, but a BUT>

After too many delays the boys finally got all the windows in. Yay. But I have to say I was totally unhappy about their progress on the outside trim. Although they only did 3 out of 8 on the outside and still did not finish those I might add, they are not up to snuff. If that were all. The last two windows they installed (before they hightailed it outta here) were not the correct windows. We were so shocked they were leaving early (again) that we didn't notice that until they left. What was supposed to be a one day job of about 10 to 12 hours has turned into 3 weeks of total H-E- double hockey sticks!

Like I said if that were all......one of the last two windows they installed was wider than the original. Ok no problem you think??? uh...think again. Not only was it bigger and they totally ruined the inside and outside trim, they put it in crooked. Now I do not proclaim to be a window putter inner, but I kinda think I could have done it better myself. At least I would have known to center the sucker.

That's not all....we decided if we were going to have new windows why not get a couple of new storm doors since the old ones didn't fit anyhow. Yeah why not? The boys, for a price of course, were to put them in for us. Ok. Well yesterday that's all that got done since only one showed up and after 2:30pm, when I finally got them to answer their phone. Not one window got done. But he of course was full of reasons why. The other guy did the three and they are wrong so he thinks they should be done again. Sure let's do them again.

Now after a week of excuses after excuses and one blaming the other when the other one isn't around, they were supposed to both come back today to fix all the problems with the crooked window and redo all the outside trim. At no more charge and the price of the last 2 windows were adjusted since they were the wrong ones and they would even put in the back door at no charge! (thanks to "B" coming to his mom's rescue) :)

But they didn't show. At least they called...but after me getting a little hostile, they might not show up again. At this point I don't care.

Which brings me to the hospital run.

The door the guy put in yesterday wasn't closing proper and come to find out he put it in all wrong we pretty much had to redo the whole thing over, without instructions..I guess he was smart enough to take them with him.

But there was one thing left to do and Frank had to get up on a 6 foot ladder to do it. I walked away to clean up the mess from the other door. Walk away from him while he was on a ladder was something I have never done and I feel bad. He was sitting on the top of it and it gave way. He fell and hit the deck hard. He had a ryobi cordless drill/screwdriver in his hand and he said he pitched it over as it is a heavy one and the tip of the screw drove itself about a half inch into the deck and was just standing up there! Kinda one of those weird things to happen...I wanted to take a pic of that but my dad pulled it out. But here is the HOLE.

So anyhow poor Frank has bruised pretty much most of his body...he has got some pretty bad golf ball size knots on the top of his foot, calf and shin, not to mention it looks like he has 2 elbows on one arm! His blood pressure was up higher than it needed to be but they said with pain that is normal for anybody...WHEW! They thought at first he might have broken the elbow but exrays showed it ok...but the exrays on his wrist were not as good, they are pretty sure its broken and something about the tendon too...so he has a temporary cast on until tomorrow when he has to go back to the specialist. They said something like they might re break it??? OUCH! Like it didn't hurt enough doing it the first time they think its necessary to do it again?

Anyhow, here is the temp splint or cast.

He was starting to feel the pain before leaving and they gave him some pills...he is just resting now and we are both wondering if this was worth it to have some fresh air blowing through the house for our sanity.

Or are we both just a couple of idiots?

10,000 Maniacs

This is an overdue post but I was brewing about it too much so I wanted to wait a bit before posting. Saturday I went to a couple of yard sales. Yippee. I love going to them and I love having them too. But since being here I have gotten out of the habit, so to speak. I don't think I went to one last year...well maybe one. :) And by Friday last week, I was feeling pretty good and had the urge to go to a yard sale. I went by myself and even though he was kidding and didn't care if I bought anything other than for myself...the last thing Frank said before I left was..."GET ME SOMETHING!"
So I was off. Found myself a few things at only a quarter a pop, and managed to find a friend a thing or two as well. I was happy. My knees gave out but decided on this one last sale. I had never been there before and thought it was worth a try, you never know, you just might hit the jackpot!
And there it was, just as I was leaving....something for Frank! WOW I thought this is cool. He just loves to listen to Natalie Merchant. We came across a couple of cds when living in Indy and although we never heard of her we both loved most of the songs on 2 of her cd's, Tigerlily and Ophelia.....Ophelia being his favorite. We then found out (somehow..I forget now) that she started with 10,000 Maniacs. (yeah we are old) Heck, I am not sure I even heard of them...so we had been wondering for years what or how she sounded with them. So there it was a 10,000 Maniac CD with Natalie on the cover.

See?

So I bought it. I was so happy to have found something that Frank would hopefully enjoy. I got home was excited to show him (yeah I don't get out much) and this is what he found when he opened up the cd case.

Yeah I am an idiot.
OH.......... I already posted that fact!

Cotton Ball Head

Well this is a funny story if your name is not Frank.

A couple of days ago Frank hit his head and now has a nasty looking hole on the top of his head. I have been watching it and making sure to keep it cleaned. This morning as he was heading out for church I noticed it was bleeding. I grabbed some peroxide and tried to stop it. It was time for him to leave and he just said grab me something to dab it while I am on my way. I did. I grabbed a cotton ball and soaked it with peroxide. He left.

(Here comes the funny part.)

I guess he just placed the cotton ball on his head and left it there while driving to church, and forgot about it. He went in and sat down and said he was noticing a lot of people actually turning and looking at him. He thought it was odd and looked over himself to make sure he was buttoned and zipped up! He said he talked to a few different people and then about 20 minutes passed and just before the service started Neil came by and asked him what the cotton ball was for. Frank said he paused for a minute before realizing what cotton ball he was talking about. He says everything is just a blur from that moment.

Frank is not completely bald, but as he puts it...he does have a bald head. (I don't care what is on his head, I love it, as it's all a part of who he is)

So anyone who happens to stop by and read this, he does know all I am putting on here and does not care...it made him laugh about it and got him through the day. (I am not making fun of his lack of hair)

But as he explained it all to me this morning I did feel the humiliation he must have felt. I mean really....why could not that first person who saw him just say "HEY, what happened to your head, dude"? I mean it's like when you have spinach or a piece of food or a big black seed stuck in your teeth (not that that has ever happened to me) it seems nobody has enough respect for you to tell you, "HEY GET THAT OUTTA YO TOOTH"! But as he put it....why didn't somebody say something..anything, when they saw the Bald Headed Guy, with a big Cotton Ball on top of his head, coming in the door? My only response was...I dunno?

He was upset a bit and we went for a drive to get his mind off it. I had my window down and a big spider looking butt ugly bug flew in at me and I slapped at it and it winded up on my lap...I reached down and plucked it up with my fingers and threw it out the window all the while it was wiggling and felt kinda sticky......EEEEEEEEWWWWWWWW
Frank looked over at me and said, "You got more balls than me!"

I said, "Evidently not....you got cotton balls comin out yo head!!!"

S.O.S..................

Life is just full of surprises.......Just when I thought things were ok..BAM! I know.. I know.. there are people worse off than me but gee whiz....just gimme a break, seems that lately its one thing after another. You know all those little annoying things that just drive you crazy?

First off, the guys to finish the windows didn't come yesterday or today or actually will not be coming until next week...ok, I should be happy that I got 6 in and be ok with it...and I am..I am just ready for it to be finished. Ok so they aren't coming til next week....I got over it and went and had some ice cream. ( remember the TURTLE TREASURE?)

We also got news from the doctor that wasn't the greatest...but we are still here and alive...but cannot have Broccoli Cheddar soup as much anymore from Panera's. (which is why we went again yesterday) :)
And while at the doctor's office they hit us up for payments of our last visits..and what's up with that? I like to wait for a statement and then postpone the payment a while....

I then got over the fact that when we came home, the basement was flooded, due to the water heater exploding and spraying water everywhere. I went and had ice cream. (Turtle Treasure again)

I got over two days of NO SHOWERING (YECH) due to not being able to connect the wires up for the water heater as it was all too wet to plug in. I went and got ice cream. (Turtle Treasure..extra scoop no charge..new lady there)

I also got over the fact that a certain office called over a bill I have been paying for a year and they wanted their money NOW (which by the way I did not have) So I went and had ice cream. (Turtle Treasure with the extra scoop..nice lady)

I got over another phone call that came and discussed raising up the amount I pay them and so I
went and had more ice cream. (Turtle Treasure...regular scoops....stinkin lady had a day off)

I am in tune to the fact that all this ice cream is not helping anything at all. But I do not really care at this point.
BUT, what I cannot get over is that when I am enjoying my ice cream in the store where I go get it, the
Krispy Kreme guy comes in with a cart full of FRESH KRISPY KREME DONUTS and does not even offer me one of those so called "stale donuts" that nobody bought up. I mean, what is up with that? (Its hard enough when the donut stand is next to the ice cream and each time I have to say to myself....Krispy Kreme or Ice cream.....Krispy Kreme or ice Cream......)

COME ON NOW...thats just not right! I am not sure if another bowl of Turtle Treasure will fix this......hmmmmm...maybe that nice lady works on weekends? :)

Deja Vu?

If you remember my "Cake" post in April you might just appreciate this post.

Deja Vu? I don't think so...this actually happened! Today we went on a
Sam's Club run and after decided since we need to stop going to Panera's.....go one last time. So we went. Frank got the Broccoli Cheddar soup and I decided to try the Caesar Salad with Chicken and I must say if you have not had it, it is worth a try. Very tasty. Not too far into the meal, for some unknown reason as Frank reached for his spoon to grab a bite, he lost the feeling in his hand and gee...can you guess what happened next? The spoon dropped into the bowl of soup therefore splashing up and over onto ME :) not him...LUCKY me, again. And what was I wearing again? YES I was wearing BLACK as usual and of course the Cheddar soup showed up as dots all over me and of course I even got some up the nose! Very wet and very warm...I am just thankful it was not as hot as it usually is. I could not believe it as I sat for a minute in silence, and Frank said that the look on my face was just priceless as he was waiting for me to lose it...but I didn't lose it, I just started laughing as Frank was trying his best to clean me up. I mean what else is there to do? Other than walk into Kohl's with dried cheese spots all over me..ahh who cares?
I guess its good that we can't go there anymore......but I might just have to find a way.................I mean really.....what better place to go for Frank to throw food on me?

Hey.......is there a commercial in here somewhere? Lets just see.

Broccoli Cheddar soup with French Baguette bread $3.39
Caesar Salad $4.99
2 cokes with a smile $2.78
Cheddar soup in your face .......................................Priceless

What a View

This was taken through my new window! YEAH MY NEW WINDOW! Geez, I can't believe it even though I am looking through it. The previous windows were so old they were Wavy...once Frank tried to look through one window in the kitchen only to get dizzy they are so old and wavy...some would call them Antique, but in this house? We just called 'em old. And now we call 'em, history.

I happened in the kitchen just now and saw this beautiful view and thought hmmm I wonder if I dare to try to capture it through the glass with my camera? No way could that have happened before. It worked just fine and Not too bad I might add. God is good and makes beautiful sunsets for me to see outside my new windows.

I will be the first to admit that I am probably the last person to ever get to anything that's anything on the internet....and this is probably no exception as it has I am sure, been around for a while. But I just found it recently and love it, so I want to keep it and also thought for any visitors I might have, share it. Enjoy.

First One..........Pretty, huh?
