What the heck is that?

I would like to say I have a green thumb....at least I thought I did...but am not so sure any more. Heck, I am not sure about anything, anymore. I mean this past year for me has been kinda weird to say the least. This turning fifty thing I think is gettin to me. I am doing things I would never do, feeling things I have never felt, saying things I would never say and also NOT doing things I would always do! I feel whatever I am touching...instead of turning to gold...is going sour! NOT that everything I have ever touched turned to gold...if so I would not be here whining. Its just another one of those sayings that are stuck into this brain. But I would like to think there are a few things I can do and do well. But it seems any more anything I thought I could do....I can't! I mean what is up with that? I have planted many a garden and put up many a green bean..........but this garden we put out this year is just weird. First off the icicle radishes grew to over 2 feet tall, but not one radish? There are about 100 tomatoes but not one is red yet....The stinking cabbage plants I thought were doing fine and although I had never planted cabbage, thought they were doing great and thought the beautiful butterflies surrounding them for the past week were loving my beautiful cabbage plants too. They were! Little did I know these pretty buggers were laying eggs all over my cabbage and they were turning into worms and eating my cabbage! (Guess I should have researched that one before......)

But.....YECH!
I pulled all those bad boys and cleaned up that area good!
NO WORMS IN MY GARDEN!

Which brings me to this....

How does this much vine only produce.............................................................

this teeny thing??????????????????

Now for anybody who does not know.........THIS IS A WATERMELON....I got the cooler and ice...somebody better come on over and help me lug this dude in. I'm ready for a melon eating contest!

Another Good Day

Much to our surprise, B was able to come back on Tuesday and finish up all the windows and had the time and supplies to finish both doors! I cannot believe it. This nightmare is somewhat beginning to fade finally.

(Not really, its etched into my brain forever!!)

Anyhow, he unfortunately did not have any work on Tuesday, but fortunate for me he decided to come out and finish up. I think it has made a world of difference to the look of the replacement windows and doors. Finally they all have the same trim.

Back Door (pay no attention to the flash of the camera on the glass!! :) or was that the camera flash???????????)

Now we can try to focus on other things and maybe I can finish some stuff inside. Oh I almost forgot, here is part of what B did for the inside window that the other guys screwed up so bad by putting in the wrong size window therefore tearing up the inside trim and wall. B forgot some of his tools but was able to pull this outta his hat and I love it too! (Not bad for a white boy, huh?) We just have to find some more trim now for the window and put this baby to rest!

Lil Rabbit

We have come across a few critters around here in the last few years and some not so nice. Most stinky(skunks) others noisy(raccoons) but none so sweet as Shank found today. At the start of his daily walk he noticed this cutie and after examining it more closely came to see it may have been run over. Its hind leg was not operating as it should. Not knowing what to do decided to run it to the vet to see if they would check it over and maybe "fix" him to be let back out into nature. Of course them being all about "money" would not do it. So we had to make the hard decision to put him back out where he was and hoped that his mama was close by and had not been run over as well. We fed him and let him back out in a spot we hoped would be safe. Unfortunately it was not. We got kinda sad about it. Wishing we would have maybe done something different. Still he was a cutie pie. We will remember him for a while.

"B" to the rescue

Finally.

After months and I mean months of not having curtains/drapes/blinds due to the windows not being finished, (and honestly not knowing just what to do) finally, B came to the rescue. Now it was not his problem but he is doing his best to complete our window fiasco. He is a good carpenter, and does some extremely good inside trim work as his trade, but he knew nothing about putting in a window or completely finishing the outside at all. After trying ourselves to come up with a solution Shank and I decided nothing we were trying was working at all. So we reluctantly went on to yet another project in this unending list of projects to make this place somewhat comfortable and somewhat energy efficient. HA..did I say energy efficient?
Whatever.....
Anyhow, We finished the 2 doors to.... not what we wanted, but what was ok to live with and got them finished up with blinds and curtains from our home. We waited on dad to help but as usual no help from him. He kept saying he would have someone come and give us a estimate on finishing up the outside trim on the windows...but after more than 2 months we were sure he did nothing...just as he has done with the house..but that's a whole other post. B finally got all his ducks in a row and came up Saturday with a van full of supplies to try and help us. Did I just say Ducks in a row? Geez, I am having a meltdown I am sure.

But after him having so much happen of late...Transmission replaced, compressor needing repair, nail gun poop out and the brushes on his saw needing replacing, he finally got here. I actually gave up on him coming here weeks ago. I figured with him having so many problems himself...how could he possibly come here to fix all of mine? So it was a big surprise when he said he was coming. He just brought supplies he had laying around his garage and started right in as if he had been doing this forever. I have to say, even though our heart was set on the break metal trim...we are so happy with what he did. Especially since he had no idea of what he was doing. Well I guess he had some idea he just had never done anything like it before, and was a little worried about it too, I might add. As usual, my mind is blank now and I cannot think of the material he used but I think he did an excellent job with it and we hope to be able to work around this...or maybe we will be done when he has completed all the windows and just leave it as is. We are confused at how much we should keep doing when no deal was completed as said and are just as confused at how much we can take.

But I wanted to post these beautiful pics of the great job my boy did. I am so proud of him and how he stepped up to help his mom yet again.
and finally......two windows that match! Yippee!

To Ammeg

Thank you

Just cooling off

No I am not going to vent on anything..I actually am just "cooling" off. Been out in the heat mowing and trying to prune some of the branches that get in my way while I am trying to mow. Each time I mow I tell myself to go back and do that before the next mow...but heck, who am I kidding? Got a little too hot as I managed to get the Kubota stuck in the ditch. Why was I in the ditch you ask? Well Shankie told me to go that way and was watching traffic as there really has been zero traffic down the street all morning...Of course until I decided to drive out into the street. I was going to drive up and get the pruner and he just thought that would be a quicker way...besides I had to pee too.....a little pit stop was in order. It would have been a real quick trip if I had not gotten stuck and I would not have gotten stuck if 6 cars hadn't decided to plow down the road just when I entered the ditch! OK so we tried everything, but with me and NO strength whatsoever an Shank and his broken wrist...that dude was not budging. And what is it with people stopping to stare but not ask if you need any help? I would of course said no thank you but I mean I bet within 20 minutes over 100 cars had driven by and slowed down to look at our situation.
We decided to get a shovel and dig our way out when we hear a Dixie Chopper be-boppin its way towards us...I thought ok now this is all I need some guy laughing at us as he drives by. But he was ready to help! WOW! WHAT?
Yeah he had a wench, rope kinda thingy and just as he drove by he yells "I GOT IT!" and proceeds to hook us up and dragged us outta the ditch! Whatever I said about that guy before....ummm I take it back. He is the neighbor who after me living her for 4 years has never spoken one word to either Shank or I. He even never waves back if we see him out as we drive by and we wave to him. Heck he had on a pair of earphone thingys so to not hear...or maybe he was listening to music...but still how did he know we were stuck? If he had those on I know he didn't hear Shank and me laughing...yeah we were laughing not hollering obscenities. Geez what are you thinking?
:)

Still it goes to show I guess I should not judge people...maybe he was one of those who drove by and accessed the situation and just went home and decided to do something about it and be a nice guy. WOW, still some left in the world.

Also goes to show you just how many people watch us here on this property. More people around town know more about our business than we do.
Ok cooled off now so I gotta go trim some flags, weed the garden, water the flowers and garden do a little dead heading.....man the excitement is killing me.
Have a great Friday the 13th to all!

F.Y.I.

Just a tiny bit of information for any visitors I might have.
Today was a bad day. Heck, last week was a lousy week. Crap, who am I kidding? This year has just been a year for unbearable days. I am not sure when, or if it will ever get better.
There I said it.
What has been happening you ask? Don't ask...things are just still a mess. I have contemplated on baring my soul here on my blog, but it just seems I don't want to post any of it, as I am so done with it all I don't want to see it written down and facing me.

So, after the rock we stumbled over today, it seemed fitting to go up to the corner for some Turtle Treasure.
Yeah, right.
Seems that everybody around this area or going through had decided to stop for gas, ice cream or whatever at the same precise time we decided to stop in for some Turtle Treasure. I mean there was no place to park, in or around that place. We could not even turn in and act like we were going to get gas...let alone find a place to park. So fine, we came on back home, without any Turtle Treasure, I might add.....like this was going to be any different from anything else that has been going on in our life up to now? Of course not.
So, being the creative person I thought I was, I decided to get out the box of ice cream and make some concoction of my own...and it would be delicious! Problem? Of course. NO CHOCOLATE to put on the ice cream...I mean its sorta naked without it, right? NO bananas to make a kind of banana split either!
So, ok...now what? I mean when you got a sweet tooth you got one and you have to improvise. So I had some snicker bars. I love snicker bars. So I cut them up oh so nice and placed them in and around hunks of ice cream. Took the nice bowl to Shankie and with a BIG smile on my face announced, "HERE IS YOUR SNICKER TREASURE"!
I was so proud I even made me a good size bowl of this new found treat. (and I am not much of an ice cream lover at home)

So now for the tip of the day.
"DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME" as it was absolutely terrible! YECH is the only word that would come to mind.
Shankie being the sweetheart he is, stomached as much as he possibly could. But I could not. It was an absolutely horrible taste. Yech.

So as usual this day did not end up any better than it started.
